[Dehya's feet carry her off. There's an energy after the trial, after the murder, that she still needs to work out. But there's no where to really run, and too many other people who don't need anything else spooking them today.
But the pool is cleared for now. It's where she sits shoes off to sit at the edge with her feet in the water.
It's the most peaceful place in this school right now.]
[ Aerith hasn't been by the pool much, vastly preferring places like the rose garden to center herself. Only... well. The rose garden isn't where she really wants to be right now.
It's why she finds herself at the pool of all places, surprise apparent on her face when she quickly realizes she isn't alone. ]
[Dehya nods slowly.] It's a lot. Not everyone here is used to... that.
[Or used to the keen awareness that the world can be like that.] I get why Gabimaru did it, but if that's all it took to justify hurting each other what does that make us?
[She thinks about Fandaniel's stance. It still sits poorly in her.] And then if we got the wrong person, someone else innocent would have died.
I don't know. I don't have a solution for that yet, except if maybe enough of us refuse to vote. [She sighs, leaning forward with her arms on her legs.] I held off on voting until the end, because I wanted some sort of justice for Lavi. We owe a lot to Cantarella, Louis, and Dainsleif.
I hope this'll make anyone willing to kill each other think twice before trying. Maybe it's the fastest way to what we want, but that doesn't make it right.
I waited too. I didn't want to vote until I was positive.
[ She's so thankful for those three taking initiative where she didn't have the strength to.
Her hands settle in her lap, fingers interlacing with one another. ]
But you're right. None of this is right and playing into that god's hands doesn't do any of us any good. We'd be a lot better off trying to find some way out of this together. Not... doing things that are just gonna tear us apart.
Yeah. [Dehya stares out, pensive, before clenching her fist and looking up.] Enough of us believe that, and we can still make it happen. I don't think Lavi would want us to give up either.
We gotta remind each other that we don't go through this alone.
You're right. He wouldn't want us to give up, and I know that for sure.
[ Aerith didn't get to know him too well just yet, but she knows that he at least wouldn't want all of them to simply sit back and let all this happen. ]
We're not alone, even if it can feel that way. For example... you can tell me how you feel whenever you want. If you're mad and wanna rant about something, I'm happy to listen.
Thanks. [Dehya smiles a little as she turns to her.] And I meant what I said day one--you need anything, you can come find me. Especially if anyone else is giving you any trouble.
[ It’s nice, having an offer like that. It makes her feel safer, more like she can balance on her own two feet because she’ll have someone else to fall back on should she ask for it. ]
What if I need you to get something I can’t reach? Would you help me with that too?
[ She smiles. It’s a joke, sure, but there’s a sincerity underneath her attempt to lighten the mood. ]
Thanks. Me too. [There's still people to trust, and if they hold onto that they can brace against this god trying to tear them apart. And Dehya will do everything she can to look over those people.]
[ She sways, bumping her shoulder against Dehya’s. ]
We need to be able to trust at least a few of the other people here if we wanna get through this. In a perfect world, we could all trust each other, but…
[ Aerith'll go ahead and slip right off the edge of the pool and into the water. ]
Let's make use of what we got!
[ She propels her hand up from underneath the water, sprinkling Dehya with some of it. Not an outright splash, but the intent is there—focusing on the water for a bit will be nice. ]

Oh, Dehya. I didn't think I'd see you here.

Wanted to come here to just... think for a while.

[ She offered, but still. Aerith knows how difficult it is to talk after things like this. ]
My thoughts are scattered all over the place. I start thinking about Lavi, but then I think about Gabimaru's reasoning and...
[ It's just so much. ]

[ Yet at the same time, she understands why he didn't. Sometimes, the things back home feel a lot more important. ]
Still I've been thinking... are we any better for voting for him? What if he never confessed and we got it wrong?
[ Because, like Dehya, she's also hung up on accidentally convicting someone innocent. ]

Good to hear.
[ Aerith kicks her feet in the pool, enough for the water to feel refreshing, but not to kick up any of it into either of their faces. ]
It means a lot to me, you know. To know that someone's got my back. [ A little smile. ] You can count on me too, by the way.
