[Digging through the prop room yields surprising results. Dehya was just expecting to find a heavy stick or something, and while she hasn't yet found anything claymore sized there's a few usable blades she's lined up against a table to compare.
When she hears movement she looks over her shoulder, narrowing her eyes with caution at who enters. A face she'd seen when they were all around, but not one she's talked to.
After a second she shakes her head and the thought away with it.] Need something in here? It's all pretty real for "props".
[ In a situation like this, it's imperative to try to find a weapon, particularly when abilities are all but, hrm. Hampered, so to speak?
...Imagine this man's surprise when he sees that there too is actually something that can be used as one available. But, he will nod at the question. ]
I was hoping to find something to use just in case.
[ He goes to assess the blades she's put out, before turning back to Dehya to observe her properly. ]
How likely do you believe we will find something enchanted?
[ Dainsleif doesn't believe it, but you know, he wasn't expecting to see anything actually apparently sharp, so. ]
[ Dainsleif himself acknowledges the true purpose of them as well, not holding such kind feelings towards this wretched "Father" behind the scenes. ]
I feel the very same.
[ ...then, he pauses, stepping back and happening to see a glint of something, and drawing his gaze to it, responding at first, half-distracted, before back to the displayed weapons. ]
I hope it will be enough deterrent for long...but, that said, do my eyes deceive me or do you hold a Vision?
Hmm? [Dehya tilts her hip as she looks down.] Sure do. If you recognize it, that means you're actually from Teyvat too, right?
[Why is that more surprising than other worlds, now? Baiting multiple people from the same area makes more sense. She just got used to being being from strange places, she supposes.]
[ It's...something, at least. Dainsleif actually was not expecting too much when he met others who seemed to not have much to deal with Teyvat, but it is what it is.
If anything, this feels more troubling - not that it already isn't. But, he hopes that the Traveler never sets foot into this hellhole. ]
My name is Dainsleif. From the different kinds of people I've met, my expectations to encounter someone from the same world fell.
Though, now meeting you, the possibility someone else has arrived here from our world has risen. At least, in my opinion.
Despite the circumstances...I'll return the sentiment.
[ Dainsleif more bluntly adds, haha. ]
But, I suspect that it's entirely possible. It makes me wonder how long this has been going on. It would be to our advantage to figure that out soon enough.
Since there are people who could have even come before us.
So far everyone I've met came here at the same time, but Sika did say there were previous groups. [Quantum physics is way beyond her though so she isn't even going to try and think about the timing if their trip here.]
...Hm. There was a lot of conversation happening before, I suppose it's only natural I missed some of it.
[ And a lot's already happened, and his memory isn't always its best. Which, well, does certainly remind him of something. May as well mention it now. ]
Speaking of which, what are your thoughts so far on our supposed 'overseer'?
[At that, Dehya scoffs.] I think this whole trial of his is stupid. For one thing, how is any of this supposed to prove devotion or whatever? I wouldn't have come if I knew this wish was a "reward" for killing each other.
And even those who may have suspected something couldn't have possibly anticipated any of...this.
[ Dainsleif brings a hand to face in thought. ]
Still...I wouldn't be surprised there was something else in mind, as well. Hopefully we can uncover more about the situation, because it will no doubt help us in the end.
It is. I'd already had a chance to discuss matters before with Sikas privately, so should I come across knowledge that I believe should prove useful, I'll pass it along.
[ Ironically, Dainsleif has not so much as bothered to come even closer to the blades...yes, they're nice and all, but it appears he lost interest in them just by a cursory glance.
...Yeah, he's a very particular man. Though... ]
Unfortunately, it appears the selection is lacking. I haven't seen anything to my standards, either. But, maybe that will change?
Someone really determined can kill in a lot of ways. [She puts her hands on her hips.] It'd just be easier to defend myself if it was a weapon I was used to.
[ Just hand someone a string and even with that they can garrote a person like it's only Tuesday. ]
Those who can wield slim swords and spears would naturally have difficulty wielding heavier set blades, if not trained with them - or used to wielding such.
Though, I hope when you find one suited to you, it'll be by the time we're facing down Father.
[ Because of course fighting God is going to be on the table. Why wouldn't it be. ]
[ Dainsleif flexes his hand...it is strange not to be able to punch through things with the power he normally has, but he supposes he will have to make do. ]
Perhaps so.
[ Smote or smited, or smiting...it depends on what fate has in store. ]
...I think I'll be needing to take you up on that offer, Dehya.
[ Dainsleif immediately takes out the blade he's managed to get from that so-called prop room. ]
Should be simple enough to do without injuring the other. We're both professionals.
[ His words are spoken in the same serious vein that they are, but he is in desperate need of distraction. The contract elephant isn't one Dainsleif is going to avoid, really, but to be honest, it can wait until they've finished their clash. ]
[She'd prefer the fistfight actually, but Dainsleif doesn't strike her as a guy eager to brawl. He's probably too stuck up to wrestle, so she draws her sword.
And when Dainsleif draws his blade, the task roses will bloom upon them.] Right, right--first to knock off the rose wins.
[ Dainsleif doesn't seem to respond immediately, and when everything falls into place...
He simply nods at her words.
Then he doesn't bother holding back, assuming a stance, before suddenly striking out, aiming to try to immediately knock the rose free with the blade - a front attack. ]
[The first blow is obvious enough that she twists to avoid it, her sword scraping against Dainleif's to throw it off course. She is really not used to this kind of weapon, but she's going to give it her all.
Her next swing is in similar aim to Dainleif's, if coming from more of an angle for his rose.]
[ The sound of their weapons clashing is like music to Dainsleif's ears - is it wrong to be grateful for the chance to fight like this? Even before this, he was wondering if he was starting to get antsy without a chance to test his skills - though, it has been quite a long while.
Her sword coming for his rose, at an angle is definitely different from his initial approach, causing him needing to shift his footing so he can twist his body out of the way.
Afterwards, he twirls, before swings his sword wide, in a different angle, trying to catch her rose with just the tip of the blade. ]
[ Again their weapons clash. Except there is indeed a difference.
In a moment where Dehya misjudges the length of the blade, missing, Dainsleif doesn't hesitate to try to clinch what he sees as an opportunity.
Without hesitation, he angles the blade upwards, swift as the wind to try to catch her worse, careful in the way he swings, but bringing it close, in what looks to be a decisive, final flourish. ]

[Murder weapons. They're probably meant to be used to kill each other. Just remembering it makes her blood boil.]
But if everyone's armed, everyone will think twice about attacking each other.

Anyway.] Same here, but if there's two of us there might be more. Think they passed out a bunch of those letters until enough people responded?

... And one that thought the whole thing was really involved show promotion, but.]
That an offer to share tips as we got 'em? [She frowns as she sorts through another blade.] Ugh, there's really not a single claymore in here?

Week Three - Monday
but she swallows down that awkward contract elephant in the room.]
Hey, you want to have a practice bout? [Dehya waves her hands quickly.] Not to any serious injuries or anything.

She taps the hilt.] But I'm not against a fistfight either.
no subject
Dainsleif is not against a fistfight, either.
But, he is not going to contemplate things while wallowing in indecision or changing his mind. He points his blade at her. ]
Good to know.

[She looks down at the rose and sighs.] Guess I should practice more with smaller blades.
